🇭🇷 Croatia — HGV driving bans 2026
A major tourist destination, Croatia protects its coastal roads from summer congestion: HGVs are banned on public holidays and, in summer, at weekends. However, a long list of SR roads is exempt from these bans, and ADR transport must follow strictly prescribed routes. Here is the detail, road by road.
1. General rule
On SR and CR roads, vehicles over 7.5 t and those over 14 m in length are banned:
🚫Public holidays from 14:00 to 23:00, and eves of public holidays from 15:00 to 23:00.
☀️Summer. From 15 June to 15 September, on Saturday from 04:00 to 14:00 and on Sunday from 12:00 to 23:00.
↻Adjustments. If a public holiday falls on a Sunday or Monday, the ban runs on the preceding Friday from 03:00 to 23:00. If it falls on a Friday or Saturday, it applies on Sunday from 12:00 to 23:00.
