🇷🇸 Serbia — HGV driving bans 2026
Serbia is among the most permissive countries in Europe for heavy goods vehicles: no weekend or public holiday bans for standard trucks. Only oversized convoys are subject to restrictions. Here are the rules you need to know before crossing this key link of the Balkan corridor.
1. General rule
Good news for drivers transiting through the Balkans:
✅No weekend or public holiday bans. Serbia applies no circulation restrictions for standard heavy goods vehicles on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays. Trucks can drive without any calendar restrictions on the entire road network.
2. Oversized vehicles
The only restriction concerns transport whose dimensions or weight exceed the authorised maximums (exceptional loads). These vehicles are prohibited from circulating on the entire Serbian road network during two weekend time slots:
🚫From Friday 12h to Saturday 5h.
🚫From Sunday 12h to Monday 5h.
This ban applies to the entire road network of the country.
3. Good to know
🍺Alcohol limit: maximum 0.5 g of alcohol per litre of blood.
❄️Tyres: snow chains mandatory in winter.
💡Lights: dipped headlights mandatory during the day in built-up areas when visibility is below 200 metres; dipped headlights and/or fog lights mandatory in fog.
📞Useful numbers: 192 (police), 193 (fire brigade), 194 (medical emergencies), +381 11 9800 or 1987 (breakdown assistance from Serbian motoring club AMSS).
🛠 Drive with confidence, wherever you are in Europe
Driving bans differ from country to country, but your driving and rest times (561/2006) are the same everywhere. TruckerMaster reads your driver card on your phone, breaks down each day and flags any violations — so you can focus on the road.
